WEBSep 17, 2021 · Glass is made of silica which will always have the same Mohs hardness, ans that is what determines how much is scratches. It's too bad the sapphire screens didn't work out, as those would have been extremely scratch resistant. A screen protector, especially a glass one, also helps to save the screen from cracking if you drop it.

And since it's more expensive to replace a cracked screen than a scratched one (you don't replace that at all), I believe Ceramic Shield is more for the benefit of the consumers.
