Yesterday they launched a new model with the same front port specs but now supports NVMe drives. Sure enough, I placed an order along with a new MNVe blade from western digital.

WEBFeb 27, 2023 · Any hub would have the same issue as exactly one cable goes between the computer and the hub. Remember, 40gb is a theoretical limit. I'll just say I was able to watch a media file (movie) while doing a back up to another dry and didn't have any issues as neither will take up the theoretical limits on their own or together.

WEBJan 11, 2024 · The experience is very good so far, I have a Western Digital Blue NVMe 1TB just for files while the other usb c port on the mini is steaming movies tv shows perfectly to another 4 port hub to external ssd drives. while the macfan™ app shows everything under 100Fº now. the easy access of plugging in thumb drive is un-expectantly a major blessing!

WEBDec 17, 2021 · The 2018 Mac mini's PSU is rated for 150W. According to Apple it can consume up to 122W under load. My understanding it that this is without externally connected devices. That leaves 28W to spare, which would be sufficient for the formerly mentioned 19.5W (15W) for the Hub and its devices.
