WEBJan 28, 2012 · I take Citrucel pills and way back used the powder but don't like the other ingredients in the powder now. Maybe Metamucil makes an unflavored powder if Citrucel doesn't. Pill quantity: I used to take 6 Cit. pills daily but now am down to 2/day and getting other fiber in food intake.

WEBMar 1, 2016 · The Metamucil pills seemed to work well for thickening but then I did some reading and the benefiber supposedly didn't have a side effect of gas. I'm sort of at a crossroads here, with the Metamucil I'd take 2 pills 4x a day. With the benfiber I take one heaping spoonful of powder with each meal in some water.

Fibercon is Calcium Polycarbophil and is a synthetic fiber---it is not brokendown by intestinal bacteria ---- does not ferment. It sort of acts like an insoluble fiber that does not absorb water and is not a stool bulk forming agent.

WEBJul 3, 2011 · We mix it with VSL#3DS, applesauce and some cinnamon for taste. I think psyllium husk tends to create more gas than the psyllium seed powder. Psyllium seed powder also mixes well with peanut butter and can be premixed as the peanut butter doesn't have enough moisture for the psyllium seed powder to absorb.

WEBMar 14, 2005 · Just a thought. Start out slowly and work your way up to your theraputic dose. (The recommended dose for IBS C or D is 10-12 grams of fiber from a suppliment) We are all so different it's hard to even suggest how much that would be. Start with a teaspoon and work you way up might be a good way to do it. It's what I did.
