I didn't rent a camel so I don't know the price. Our guide told us that the camel would take a person about 1/3 of the way, and that it is still a tough climb. If you do rent a canel, you need to ask the owner to stasy snd you should wait to pay the guide until you get to the point on the climb where you have to walk.

Thanks for your answer. I had heard from another tour company that we could climb the mountain from Dahab, but the monastery was closed. I hadn't checked my e-mail in time to go, but definitely would have. I was really sad I didn't get to do this. Also, it seemed the monastery was closed because of the orthodox holiday. This was especially annoying because the travel guides should have known this and told me when I booked.
