Spectacular views! Would be a great place for a picnic . We strolled along the edge of the water. It had just rained so we enjoyed watching the fog rise of the water and even saw a bald eagle. Full review by heathergD1975RO

This is worth the drive. ( from Murphy we took 294 up to the dam … good signage and then we drove the loop back into town). The dam is a great visual of the dam system… the water drop from Lake Hiaw… Full review by LittleK_8

The dam is worth a visit if travelling to Murphy NC. Conveniently located near the Bear Paw Community. Impressive views from the top and be sure to drive to the bottom of the dam. Picnic spots at th… Full review by bcowdrick
Above the dam there was boating activities in progress while visiting. As for swimming did not observe a swimming area at the location visited. Did not go below the dam.
