Everything closed because they failed to realise that some of the Scottish schools were off on holiday. So nothing for kids to do. Very bemused staff when we asked about it. Poor show. Full review by jarob2423415

Hi Kate G. I presume you are asking about taking a backpack on our funicular? Presently our funicular railway remains out of service at present. Owner Highlands and Islands Enterprise expects operations will start up again in early 2023, during the winter season. Cairngorm Team.
Will the funicular railway be open by Nov 2022? How much will it cost? How much time should I allocate for this funicular rail trip up to summit and back? I understand tubing may take at most an hour - would anyone advise how to spend the remaining hours of the day after that? Is there a cafe nearby that I can sit in to watch them tube?

There is a nice cafe at the base of the mountain - you can find out more if you Google Cairngorm Mountain. You can see the mountain and a bit of the tubing are from here. Not sure whether the funicular will be ope by November it the delays seems to have been delayed. There’s lots to do in the area though, including visiting reindeer which I would highly recommend Cairngorm Reindeer, there is also a lovely Loch on the road up to the mountain - Loch Morlich and Rothiemurchus is an estate which has lots of different things to see and do. Hope that helps.
