THE Game Awards are the Oscars of gaming, and the nominees for the 2024 awards have just been announced. Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth picked up the most nominations with seven each,

Host Geoff Keighley also revealed that the 3D platformer and the role-playing game had received seven nominations each, including Game of the Year. Card game Balatro, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Metaphor: Refantazio and Black Myth: Wukong are the other games up for the top prize.

The Game Awards 2024 nominations have been announced, with the ceremony set to take place on December 12. This year’s Game of the Year contenders include Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio.

The Game Awards aren’t known for much in the way of shock and surprise, and so it proved with the 2024 nominees — a fairly well-rounded list in which most of the year’s best-reviewed and best-loved games got some love.

With only six slots nomination slots, Game of the Year is bound to leave some worthy contenders like Echoes of Wisdom behind.
