LAS VEGAS -- Hundreds of hotel workers at a casino near the Las Vegas Strip went on strike just before dawn Friday after a long and highly publicized fight for a new contract.

Day two of the Culinary Workers Union's strike was in full effect outside of the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Saturday as 700 union workers took to the streets to fight for better pay.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - For the second time this year, Culinary Union workers are on strike at Virgin Hotels. The strike began Friday at 5 a.m. after the latest round of negotiations failed, leaving the union and off-strip property “disappointed.”

Picketing continued Sunday outside a hotel-casino near the Las Vegas Strip that remained open with no talks scheduled between management and union members striking for a new contract. Workers are seeking a pay raise and benefits comparable to pacts reached last year at other resorts.
