After being delayed by controversies, elections, and other recent crises, Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, is set to become the state's new Deputy Chief Minister on Sunday.

CHENNAI: In the first such instance in India since Sukhbir Singh Badal served as Punjab's deputy chief minister while his father, Parkash Singh Badal was CM, Tamil Nadu will now have a father-son duo as CM and deputy CM.

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Saturday approved Chief Minister M K Stalin's recommendations on a cabinet reshuffle that included the elevation of his son Udhayanidhi as deputy CM and saw the return of V Senthil Balaji to the council of ministers.

Three ministers, including Mano Thangaraj, previously in charge of the Dairy Development portfolio, have been dropped from the cabinet. Along with Balaji, Dr Govi Chezhiaan, R Rajendran, and S M Nasar have been inducted as new members of the council of ministers.
