Vancouver Canucks defenceman Akito Hirose exited early in the third period of Saturday night’s preseason tilt with the Calgary Flames after taking a hit from Adam Klapka that sent him flying awkwardly into the boards at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Ryan Lomberg and Brayden Pachal each had a goal and assist on Saturday night to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks in NHL pre-season action.

While it is only a pre-season game, faceoffs were a massive issue for Vancouver all night. The Canucks only won 20 of the 59 faceoffs they took while also finishing four for 24 in the defensive zone. Even for a pre-season game, these numbers are concerning, especially since Vancouver lost all seven faceoffs while shorthanded.
