The sometimes controversial Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter is at the end of its road. The accessory first launched with the iPhone 7 in 2016.

It appears that Apple is discontinuing the Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter that it released alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

Nonetheless, many people out there still have older Lightning iPhones but haven't yet made the jump to wireless headphones. Third-party options are out there that they can use—at least for now—but the popular Apple adapter seems to be following the same script that other deprecated Apple accessories have followed when riding off into the sunset.
