Hurricane Milton strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane Monday on a path toward Florida population centers, threatening a 12-foot storm surge in Tampa Bay and setting the stage for potential mass evacuations less than two weeks after a catastrophic Hurricane Helene swamped the coastline.

So far, there have not been evacuations ordered on the First Coast. As forecast, Milton's impacts to the First Coast will arrive Wednesday, with the worst of the weather being Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management has a website to determine whether you live in an evacuation zone and what zone it is. Go to the website and enter your address. If your home is in one of the colored areas, those are flood zones where you may be asked to evacuate by local officials.
