The hurricane’s winds and storm surge created havoc on the Gulf of Mexico, in coastal neighborhoods and further inland.

Hurricane Helene caused damage from storm surge and intense rainfall as it slammed into the Big Bend region of Florida, and bringing flooding to Georgia and flash flood alerts as it marches up the east coast.

The storm, which made landfall in Florida late Thursday, will continue to weaken as it continues to move north across Georgia.
