Additionally, in early 2025, Kia says its EV owners will have access and the ability to pay for charging via the Kia Access app once a vehicle software upgrade is completed. Over-the-air updates may be available for this, though Kia notes model-year 2019-24 Niro EV software updates must be done through a dealer.

Kia continues to make it easier for EV drivers to charge. Its EV charging service, Kia Charge, now has over 800,000 charging points across 28 European countries, an increase of 39% from last year. Launched in September 2021, Kia Charge is the automaker’s exclusive EV charging solution for Europe.

Owners who buy CCS-equipped Kia EVs after September 4, 2024, will be sent free adapters to allow them to use NACS fast-chargers in early 2025.

General Motors, or GM, announced a significant initiative aimed at improving the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience.

The automaker will supply purchasers of its EV6 and EV9 with adapters that will open access to more than 16,500 DC charge points.

The move will increase the number of DC fast charging stations available to Kia EV owners by over 83 percent - but only for the EV6 and EV9 SUVs.
