The electric vehicle charging network is close to securing a federal Department of Energy loan and plans to stand up 7,500 high-speed chargers in five years. It and other companies are working to make charging simpler and more pleasant.

Officials have installed new electric vehicle charging stations at four Illinois state parks, including three within a short drive of St. Louis.

Plans for the program include offering connectors for both Combined and American charging standards, offering options for most electric vehicles to charge at select Kwik Trips. According to the release, the chargers will offer at least 150kW of power per dispenser when four vehicles are plugged in, or up to 400kW of power for a single vehicle.

The state of Illinois has installed a donated electric vehicle charging station at Frank Holten State Park in Cahokia Heights as part of an effort to help — and encourage — people to use electric vehicles on road trips through the state and stop in the metro-east along the way.

The fast-chargers are available 24/7 on Lampkin Street. West Point, Tupelo, and other towns in the area will also be getting new fast charging stations for electric vehicles through TVA.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Electric vehicle drivers will soon have some new places to charge their cars. The federal government is giving Kansas more than $6.8 million for nine new EV charging locations. The charging stations will be along U.S. Highway 400 and Interstates 35 and 135:
