In a Saturday ruling, U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez halted the enforcement of canvassing restrictions legislation cited under Senate Bill 1 after ruling it was "unconstitutionally vague" and in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment.

A federal judge has ruled that parts of a sweeping Texas voter security law are unconstitutional, and the state can no longer investigate voter assistance efforts as a criminal act.

The ruling said Texas' ballot harvesting provisions were unconstitutional by being too vague, restricting free speech and violating the 14th Amendment

According to the Attorney General's Office, Paxton is suing the Travis County Commissioners Court for "violating the Texas Open Meetings Act to secretly discuss a measure to allocate public money for security enhancements for the personal residence of Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza."
