Saint Paul nonprofit stunned by vandalism destroying freshly planted trees
The city estimates $40,000 of damage to dozens of trees destroyed and thrown into the Mississippi River by vandals this week.

Shepard Road in St. Paul is a scenic walkabout along the Mississippi River; however, something is missing. Authorities say 60 newly planted trees were uprooted Wednesday night. All but about a dozen were thrown into the river and are now unsalvageable.

Vandals destroy 60 newly planted trees on St. Paul's Shepard Road
Sixty trees along St. Paul's Shepard Road were destroyed by vandals overnight Thursday, with some of the trees thrown into the Mississippi River, city officials said. In a statement, St. Paul Parks and Recreation said the trees were planted last month over Minnesota Education Association (MEA) break in partnership with local high school students and Tree Trust.
