Murad informed the department of his decision this morning, Nov. 19. He will continue to lead the department through the early part of 2025, while the administration engages in a search process to find the next Chief of Police. In his letter, he states his last day will be Monday, April 7, 2025.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad says he will be stepping down from his post in the new year. The Mayor’s Office on Tuesday announced that they had received a letter from Murad on November 4 that he would not seek reappointment in June of next year.
