Oct 27, 2005 · The anti-halation coatings on T-Max films are notoriously difficult to wash off. If you just want to play around with the technique to discover the possibilities, try a different film first. I used BPF 200 a lot in sheet film sizes, and the anti-halation backing washes off very easily in a water soak of a couple of minutes.

Oct 16, 2011 · Some films I've used have dyes that are readily soluble in water (Efke R100 comes to mind) and the presoak water pours out brightly colored. But presoaking Kodak and Ilford films usually leave the water barely tinged. Either way, I had no idea whether the water soluble dyes were the anti-halation dyes, sensitizing dyes or something else.</p>

Feb 21, 2004 · Color paper has anti-halation incorporated into the emulsions themselves, thus the blue green color of RA paper. Anti-halation improves sharpness and also 'tweaks' emulsion speed, giving the manufacturer a fine tuning knob to turn to adjust the emulsions as they are coated. Hope this helps. Regards.
