WEBDec 9, 2016 · Mar 30, 2019. #6. We have the RH3525, smallest we use it for is 0.008” holes. Usually we burn a 0.020” start hole for the wire EDM machines. We have the tubes for 0.250” holes. The tubes are hollow and in the larger sizes one ends up with a slug that is slightly smaller than the interior of the tube, usually by about 0.002-3” per side.
My new to me Industrial Hobbies Milling Machine
WEBFeb 6, 2023 · I was very lucky in scoring this Industrial Hobbies Milling Machine. It has a Unist mister, Fagor 40i DRO and scales, It has a powerfeed. Just a good mill for my needs.. I have a question so this came with a 1/2 -13 NT30 drawbar. My plan is to go full CNC on this. So my plan is to use iso30 with a new metric drawbar.
Square column vs. small knee mill | The Hobby-Machinist
WEBNov 9, 2018 · It’s an 8x30 small knee mill, basically the same as the Grizzly G0731. I’ve found this used one on eBay for 1700. I just used to have small grizzly round column mill which was effectively worthless for steel because the lack rigidity, and don’t get me started with the round column.

For example, when pressing a bearing into position, you can feel when the bearing bottoms out. A hydraulic press is capable of much higher force but provides less feel. Sometimes this matters, sometimes not.

The core problem (s) with this machine are the worm gear and and fine/coarse feed mechanism, which is a pair of castle nuts that are either engaged (for fine feed) or disengaged for coarse feed. On my machine most (but not all) of the "slop" is associated with the castle nuts.
