WEBMay 11, 2023 · Not solid state, no 160 or WARC band coverage, but will do 500 all day long on 240V. Paid $400 CAD for it many years ago in mint condition. Mostly run it at 300 or 400 out to put less strain on the xcvr. Would love a new solid state amp, but just not in the budget. VE3TMT, May 19, 2023.

WEBJun 2, 2022 · The one with 4.3 has 12 reviews and the one with 4.9 has 8 reviews, and looks like the one with 4.9 is more up-to-date ("RF-2KS" vs "RF-2K+"). Apparently the older one was obsoleted with a very minor model# change. Undoubtedly the RF Kit amp and or firmware is improving over time.

WEBSep 21, 2018 · Here’s a full review of the Palstar LA-1K, it’s a 1 kW dual LDMOS solid-state HF linear. It covers from 6 to 160 meters. The LA-1K as RF sensing allowing automatic band switching without having to interface the radio. It has a very nice color display touch screen which includes a power meter and a live SWR meter. It supports up to 3 antennas.

WEBJan 18, 2023 · BTW, I was reading the QST review of the RFkits amp. Seems the imd was -33dB without pre-distortion. Unfortunately kind of typical for solid state amps, Mercury IIIs included. It improved to -45dB at only 1000W out. We all wish it was better at full output, but there's no way it's going to equal a good 8877 tube amp.
